The Motorola PRO+ is an Android powered
smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard and a 3.1-inch VGA display. Its other
features include a 5-megapixel autofocus camera, FM radio, 4GB of internal
storage, 1GHz processor and GPS.As extensive as it is, the Android
landscape does not offer many smartphones that boast the portrait QWERTY form
factor. Fortunately, every once in a while, we do get introduced to such a
BlackBerry look-alike, and the Motorola PRO+ is the latest handset to join the
party.
While there are several Android handsets with a physical
QWERTY keyboard, there are not so many that have a portrait set of keys on the
front of the device. The portrait QWERTY keyboard has been popularised by
BlackBerry handsets and is loved by both business and social users. Take the
popularity of this form factor and add the Android OS to it and you've got the
great looking device that is the Motorola Pro Plus. The 5-megapixel camera
offers autofocus and an LED flash as well as a broad suite
of editing facilities. There are also quick options to share your pics online.
The Android web browser looks as it should but tended to
render pages a little too slowly for comfort, and despite supporting Flash
video, often looked jerky when streaming. However, it's good to see there's a
full version of Quickoffice available, allowing you to create and edit Word,
Excel and PowerPoint documents.Motorola's Pro+ joins a pretty small group of
Android handsets that include a physical Qwerty keyboard. But
whereas other keyboard clad models, such as the HTC ChaCha and Acer BeTouch
130, use landscape screens, Motorola has instead gone for a traditional portrait
display on this model.
